To the people of Savannah who have supported us tremendously since the reopening of the Parlor, I would like to express my sincere thanks—to all who have lined the halls patiently waiting on a booth in the parlor to open. We have had a constant flow of patrons both new and old, visitors and locals alike, who could not wait to sink their teeth into a juicy CBP burger, or sample a plate of freshly made onion rings. |

I would like to mention that our most requested item is ....The Crab Stew with a corn bread loaf. If I have heard it once, I have heard it a thousand times "Do you have the recipe for the crab stew?" Well, I am here to tell you that not only do I have the recipe—I have the cook who has made it for the last thirty years!! The crab stew is exactly as it was, except as our veteran cook Shirley Carter says, "It has a lot more crab meat now." So thick you can stand a spoon in it. |

How the once dirt parking lot was a lovers lane of sorts. Recently a couple who had been married for 52 years spoke to me of how (while dating) they would sit in their car outside and watch the old black-and-white TV that was mounted on the roof while waiting for Lindy the waiter to bring out their lunch. |

Legendary CBP wait staff like Monroe, Lindy, and Smitty, whom I never met but through their stories have, oddly enough, developed a strange closeness. Stories from older men and women who were brought to the Parlor hand in hand by their grandparents and who now, thanks to the reopening of the Parlor, can carry on the tradition by bringing their own grandchildren to the CBP. It is still amazing to me popularity of this lovely old place and the loyalty the people of Savannah have for the Parlor! It really is a true Savannah tradition, AGAIN!! |
